Owen Underhill's composition Canzone di Petra was composed in 2004 for flutist Lorna McGhee and harpist Heidi Krutzen. Their performance recorded here is part of a disc entitled Canada New Works for Flute & Harp on the Skylark Music label.

Canzone di Petra is a form of song without words. The music is based on three stanzas of one of Dante's stone poems (rime petrose) written about 1300. The original text of the poem appears in the score and the performers function almost like singers or medieval troubadours.

The work was the winner of the Western Canadian Music Awards Outstanding Classical Composition in 2007.
