John L. Holmes' work on the kinetics and energetics of gas-phase reactions of organic ions has made him a leader in this field. His development of new methods for measuring the release and partitioning of energy in ionic fragmentations, from the detailed shapes of metastable ion peaks, has provided by far the most quantitative measures of these important quantities. A critical survey of the data for the heats of formation or organic ions has led him to formulate general rules for assessing and predicting ionic heats of formation, a scheme that complements that for neutral compounds.

Clay Holroyd is a Canada Research Chair in cognitive neuroscience. His primary research concerns how the brain selects and sustains extended sequences of effortful behavior, such as how we follow through with a decision to jog up a steep mountain. Lucie Hotte is a full Professor in the Département de français at the University of Ottawa where she holds the University of Ottawa Research Chair in Francophone Cultures and Literatures. Her work on Franco-Canadian literatures and the institutional issues unique to minority literatures have transformed the way in which they are studied.

Michael Howlett is known for his work in public policy studies, especially related to the analysis and improvement of policy design. This research mobilizes insights from public administration, law, political science, public management and political economy to help better understand policy processes and resolve policy problems and issues. He has received many awards and citations for these efforts, including a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1). He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the leading international journal in policy studies, Policy Sciences, and was instrumental in the creation of the International Public Policy Association and the Canadian Public Policy Network, as well as similar organizations dedicated to policy studies in Singapore, the Philippines and India.
