Davidson, Russell - Economics - McGill University
Russell Davidson has contributed to developing rigorous statistical tests of economic models. The analysis of income distribution has been a field in which he has applied these tests. He has worked on both the theory and practice of the statistical technique known as the bootstrap.

Davidson, Russell - Economics - McGill University
Russell Davidson has made many internationally recognized contributions to the rigorous statistical testing of economic hypotheses and models. A few of the areas that he has influenced heavily include testing of hypotheses that are not nested within one another, tests for compatibility of the specification of a model with observed data, the use of artificial regressions for testing, and bootstrapping for increased reliability of inference. A number of these studies have been widely cited, reflecting their widespread practical use. He has also contributed to mathematical physics and has co-authored two highly respected textbooks of econometric methods.
