Mr. Marcel Hamelin
Affiliation: University of Ottawa
Keywords: Histoire du Québec, histoire du Canada
[contact]
Dr. Qutayba Hamid
Affiliation: McGill University
Induction Year: 2013
[contact]
Qutayba Hamid is a clinical scientist that has focused most of his research in the area of the role of cytokines in allergic diseases. He pioneered the description of the association between Th-2 type cytokines and asthma and his work in the area has formed the basis for the generally accepted hypothesis of the pathogenesis of allergic disease. His contribution to this field has been translated to many therapeutic approaches that are currently in phase III trails including anti-IL-5, anti-IL-9 and IL-17. His papers are highly cited, more than 28000 times, and his H factor is 83.

Kiley Hamlin is an Associate Professor and Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Developmental Psychology. Her internationally recognized and award-winning research explores the earliest developmental origins of the human moral sense, by examining the emergence of moral judgement and action in preverbal infants, who lack language, sophisticated cognitive abilities, and extensive experience with cultural norms and values. More broadly, Hamlin is interested in the origins of human social and moral cognition from both an ontogenetic and phylogenetic perspective.
Induction Year: 2016

HARDER, Lawrence – Faculty of Science, University of Calgary
Lawrence Harder has exposed new perspectives on the ecology and evolution of angiosperm reproduction. His theoretical and empirical research illustrates the contribution of plant-pollinator interactions to the diversity of flowering plants, reveals inflorescences, rather than individual flowers, as the fundamental unit of plant mating, and integrates ecological and genetic perspectives on plant mating. He has also clarified the nature of pollination problems confronting global agricultural production and identified principles for improved agricultural practice.

Dr. John Hardy
Affiliation: Texas A & M University
Keywords: Nuclear, physics
[contact]
John Hardy, who as a student was one of the first to exploit the experimental and theoretical opportunities presented by the discovery of delayed proton emission, has become one of Canada's best nuclear physicists as recognized by his winning recently the Herzberg Medal of the Canadian Association of Physicists. Equally at home in theory and experiment, he has introduced techniques of unusual precision as part of a broad program studying nuclei far from stability, a field crucial to our further understanding of the nucleus. One important result has been the proof of the concordance of certain highly precise beta decay rates in nuclei. This concordance and a comparison with data from hyperon and muon decay has profound implications for theories of the universality of the weak interaction. He has recently identified five members of a new series of delayed proton emitters making him a cc-discoverer of nine of the nineteen such nuclei known below mass 100.

Richard Harris is one of the most talented and creative economists of his generation. He is recognized internationally for this theoretical and empirical work on computer-based general equilibrium models and his many important publications on industrial organization, optimal taxation and cost benefit analysis. His research on trade, industrial policy and international competition has become a reference point in the Canadian debate on free trade.
Harris is best known for his pathbreaking studies of general equilibrium models of international trade. He has devised the theory required for.predicting the effects of trade policy in the presence of complex market structures and economies of scale. His empirical work has transformed our perception of the effects of alternative trade and tax policies in Canada. This research has made a lasting contribution to the Canada debate on free trade, and has been drawn upon by those who favour a free trade agreement and by those who oppose it. Widely respected as a distinguished scholar, a supervisor of many fine dissertations, and an active participant in the affairs of the economics profession, Richard Harris has earned his place as a member of the Royal Society of Canada.
