Innovative and theoretically sophisticated in its approach, Susan Bennett’s work in the areas of theatre and performance studies has challenged the ways scholars and practitioners perceive performance in its sociocultural contexts. In her career, she has steadfastly underscored the social capital of the humanities and documented the need for renewed creativity in the arts across Canada.
Développant dans ses travaux une approche à la fois sophistiquée et novatrice, Susan Bennett a transformé les façons dont les chercheurs en études théâtrales et les praticiens du théâtre conçoivent la notion de performance. Mettant de l’avant les multiples dimensions socio-culturelles de la performativité, elle a constamment souligné le capital social inhérent aux études des arts au Canada et a montré à quel point il est urgent de comprendre la notion de créativité d’une autre manière.
