Ruda, Harry - Applied Science - University of Toronto
Harry Ruda is an international leader in synthesis and understanding the behavior of semiconductor nanostructures. His pioneering work spans nanowire/quantum dot growth, individually and in ordered arrays, controlling carrier recombination in nanostructures using surface engineering, studying electron transport in nanostructures, discovering room temperature spintronic behavior from Mn-doped semiconductor nanowires, realizing unique nonlinear optical response in nanostructures, harnessing giant excitonic response in nanowire array cavities, and contributing to new optoelectronic devices with profound benefits in computing, communications, and health. He has authored/co-authored two books in optoelectronics/photonics, cofounded the Canadian Centre of Excellent in Photonics, and founded Canada’s first Centre for Nanotechnology.
