Miodrag Belosevic is a scholar of international stature. His research interest is the elucidation of the immune mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions at both organismal and molecular levels. His seminal contributions cross disciplinary boundaries and include the development of novel animal models for study of infectious diseases, the elucidation of the mechanisms of host defense in mammals and lower vertebrates, and inactivation of waterborne pathogens. His ability to integrate and synthesize, and to quickly technology-transfer his basic research into useful and high-impact applications have benefited the global community in the area of safe drinking water supply and environmental health.
