Long Citation
Dr. Trimble has made important discoveries that help to explain how cells in the brain communicate for each other. Communication is achieved through the release of small packets of chemicals by their fusion with the cell membrane. This discovery has impacted all fields of biology since it is now known that these same mechanisms are used for membrane fusion in all cell types and in all organisms. He has also discovered a new group of proteins that participate both in brain communication and cellular division, and may provide insights into how cancer develops.
