John Dick is a world leader in the study of human hematopoietic stem cells. His development of the first human xenotransplant assay for normal and leukemic stem cells has revolutionized stem cell research. His numerous contributions to human blood stem cell biology include the identification of repopulating stem cells, the discovery of different classes of stem cells, and the development of stem cell gene transfer. His landmark papers on the first identification of leukemic stem cells have profoundly altered understanding of cancer biology. The recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Dick holds a Canada Research Chair in Stem Cell Biology.
