Edith Hamel is internationally recognized for her pioneering work on the regulation of brain perfusion under normal and pathological conditions. Her findings provided unprecedented information on the cellular basis of brain imaging techniques that use hemodynamic signals to map changes in neuronal activity. Her discoveries also unraveled the mechanisms of action of specific antimigraine drugs, and of cardiovascular therapies with memory benefits in models of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia.

MAHON, Patrick - Department of Visual Arts, Western University Patrick Mahon is an internationally recognized artist-scholar whose work within an expanded field of art involves studio creation, critical writing, and curating. He engages diverse subjects including the role of art in introducing capitalist exchange into Northern Canada, and environmentalism focusing around water. Committed to linking creation and discourse, and the social value of contemporary art in Canada and beyond, Mahon initiated the Studio PhD at Western University in 2006.

HOFFMAN, Richard C. - Department of History, York University Historian Richard C. Hoffmann is the rare scholar who established a new subfield in his discipline. Through his internationally-renowned, prize-winning and pioneering scholarship, his mentoring of emerging scholars, and his networking and organizational activities, he has built the environmental history of premodern Europe. His collaboration with Austrian aquatic ecologists had an impact on public policy regarding the protection and management of indigenous fish species in a number of European countries.

McNAB, David, Departments of Equity Studies and Humanities, York University David McNab is a renowned Métis historian and a leading authority in Canada’s movement to Reconciliation.
