An outstanding scholar and lecturer, Michael Millgate has established an unchallenged international reputation as biographer, editor, and critical expositor. He has won high praise for his works on William Faulkner and Thomas Hardy, including his biography of Hardy and his co-editing of the seven-volume edition of Hardy's "Collected Letters", and for his studies of the posterity-conciousness of authors, "Testamentors Acts: Browning, Tennyson, James, Hardy". His stature has been signalled by the award of such distinguished Fellowships as the Guggenheim, Killam, and Connaught. His seemingly inexhaustible energy and extensive administrative experience and talent are called upon frequently by national and international committees, councils, and presses.

PIERRE MILMAN, Department of Mathematics, University of Toronto, has made fundamental contributions to our understanding of geometry and analysis in the vicinity of singularities of analytic sets. He has introduced a new method of constructing local invariants of singularity, obtaining an algorithm for canonical desingularization by successively blowing up their maximal loci. His research on ideals of analytic and differentiable functions has isolated the class of subanalytic sets amenable to classical analysis. Milman's work reveals surprising relationships among geometric, algebraic and analytic properties of singular spaces, helping to make algebraic geometry a part of the working tools of an analyst.

Cynthia E. Milton is internationally recognized for her work on memory, truth commissions, and historical and artistic representations in the aftermath of conflict, in particular in contemporary Latin America. She is the author and editor of several publications, including an award-winning monograph on poverty and colonialism. She holds the Canada Research Chair in Latin American History and received an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship.

Véronique Miron is the John David Eaton Chair in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Research at Unity Health Toronto and Full Professor at the University of Toronto. She conducts world-leading research on how the insulation surrounding nerve fibres in the central nervous system, called myelin, is supported in health and degenerated or malformed in common neurological conditions like MS or cerebral palsy. Her findings delineate new pathways to treat neurological conditions.

Sharmistha Mishra is an epidemiologist and a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Mathematical Modeling and Program Science. Her research on disentangling sources of heterogeneity in the risks and spread of infectious diseases is grounded in the real-world implementation of public health programs. Her team examines transmission pathways structured by systemic inequities, and tests interventions tailored to disproportionate risks to inform public health and policy decisions in Canada and internationally.

Professor Roger Howard Mitchell is the world's leading expert on the occurrence and genesis of alkaline rocks. His extensive work on the mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry of kimberlites has confirmed the standard genetic model, culminating in the definitive book on this important group of rocks. He has also worked extensively on the character and origin of lamproites, resulting in a new model for their genesis and publication of the definitive book on these rocks. His work is marked by that rare combination of thoroughness and imagination, and has established him as the leading petrologist in Canada.

Mizzi, Robert – University of Manitoba, Faculty of Education Dr. Robert Mizzi holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Queer, Community and Diversity Education and is an incoming member of the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame. Dr. Mizzi’s programme of research spans across adult and community education, educational administration, and social inclusion. His research primarily examines educational interventions that fosters respect for and understanding of two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people in organizations.

Jason Moffat is a world leader in functional genetics and genomics. His work focuses on developing technologies and analytical approaches to systematically explore human gene functions. His research involves interdisciplinary science that includes quantitative experimental biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, and models of disease. His lab has developed gene perturbation resources to catalog essential genes, genetic interactions and drug-gene interactions in order to identify therapeutic targets for both rare and complex diseases.
