LA CHARITÉ, Claude, Department of Literature and Humanities, Université du Québec à Rimouski Claude La Charité is a Professor at the Université du Québec à Rimouski. Canada Research Chair in Literary History and Printed Heritage (2016-2023, Tier 1), he obtained in 2006 the Université du Québec’s Award for Excellence in Research and in 2015 the Montaigne Prize of the Canadian Society for Renaissance Studies. His research is dedicated to Encyclopaedia, Philology, Humanism and Printed Culture in the Renaissance.

Pierre La Rochelle a déjà obtenu plusieurs distinctions honorifiques importantes, notamment le titre de Fellow de l'Institut canadien des ingénieurs, le prix de la Société canadienne de géotechnique et le prix R.F. Legget, attribué annuellement par la Société canadienne de géotechnique en reconnaissance de la productivité scientifique. Il fut responsable de l'organisation du Laboratoire de géotechnique à I'Université Laval et il oeuvre depuis au-delà de vingt-cinq ans dans les problèmes de stabilité des argiles sensibles et de gel dans les sols. Il fut membre de plusieurs comités associés à la recherche en géotechnique, a agi comme consultant auprès de plusieurs ingénieurs conseils et organismes publics pour des travaux de stabilité de talus et de portance de fondations dans les argiles sensibles. Il fut appelé particulièrement à conseiller le ministère des richesses naturelles pour la coulée d'argile de Saint-Jean Vianney, agissant ainsi comme coordonnateur des études.

LONG CITATION Suzanne Lacasse has made original contributions to the advancement of knowledge on offshore platforms in the North Sea under cyclic loading and has shown how theoretical and experimental information on cyclic behaviour of soils can be used in the design of such platforms. Her original oft-cited contributions relate to behaviour of soft clays and sands, the effects of erosion on offshore platform foundations, design methods for offshore foundations under cyclic loading, and risk assessment in geotechnical analysis. She has also been a dynamic leader of the world-renowned Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) for the past 14 years. SHORT CITATION Suzanne Lacasse has significantly advanced the design of offshore platforms under cyclic loading, incorporating theoretical and experimental information on soft clays and sands, effects of erosion and geotechnical risk assessment. She has also been a dynamic leader of the world-renowned Norwegian Geotechnical Institute.

Dr. Lachapelle has contributed in a sustained and major way to the development and dissemination of satellite-based navigation technology in Canada and internationally. Through his innovative research and technology transfer activities, he has provided leadership for Canada to be recognized as truly excellent in this new technology.

Robert Lacroix nous a donné jusqu'à maintenant onze volumes et une cinquantaine d'articles. Près des deux tiers de ses contributions ont porté sur l'économie du travail et des ressources humaines. On peut affirmer qu'il se trouve peu de chercheurs canadiens qui aient consacré autant d'énergie que R. Lacroix à l'analyse de la détermination des salaires et l'application de la théorie économique à l'activité de grève. Il faut ajouter que M. Lacroix a su conjuguer un service à la communauté universitaire de l'Université de Montréal et à la communauté scientifique canadienne en général avec une production scientifique qui ne s'est jamais démentie tout au long des années, ce qui témoigne d'une remarquable discipline personnelle et d'un extraordinaire sens de l'organisation du travail.

Branko Ladanyi is Professor Emeritus at the Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering of Ecole Polytechnique, University of Montreal, where he has been involved in teaching and research for the last 30 years. He is well known for his work in permafrost engineering, rock mechanics and tunnelling. He has been in charge of the Northern Engineering Research and Documentation Centre of Ecole Polytochnique sincc 1972. Professor Ladanyi has co-authored a book on Frozen Ground Engineering, written chapters of several geotechnical books, and published over 200 papers on various topics of geotechnical engineering with a particular reference to foundations in frozen ground and ice. He is a recipient of the Québec Scientific Award (1974), the R.F. Legget Award of the Canadian Geotechnical Society (1981), the E.E.De Beer Award of the Belgian Geotechnical Society (1987), the E.F. Rice Memorial Lectureship Award of the Technical Council on Cold Regions Engineering of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) (1991), and the Roger J.E. Brown Memorial Award of the Canadian Geotechnical Society (1993). In 1995, he also received the CAN-AM Civil Engineering Amity Award from the ASCE, the Standards Development Award from the American Society for Testing and Materials, the Canadian Northern Science Award from the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development. and in 1996 the Horst Leipholz Medal from the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering. Dr. Ladanyi is also a Fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada, as well as of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Kiera L. Ladner is the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Politics and Governance. She has an established record of research and publication in constitutional law and politics, federalism, Indigenous governance and Indigenist theory. As one of the first scholars in this area, she has pioneered the study of Indigenous law and politics within political science. She continues to challenge settler societies, states and universities from Indigenist and decolonized perspectives.

Kiera L. Ladner est titulaire de la chaire de recherche du Canada en politique et gouvernance. Il s’agit d’une chercheure déjà solidement établie en droit constitutionnel et en politique, en fédéralisme, en gouvernance autochtone ainsi qu’en théorie indigéniste, domaines dans lesquels elle a également abondamment publié. Comptant parmi l’une des premières érudites dans ce champ de recherche, c’est une pionnière de la science politique appliquée à l’étude du droit et de la politique autochtones. Elle continue à remettre en question les sociétés, états et universités issus de peuples colonisateurs à partir d’une perspective autochtone et de décolonisation.

Long Citation (for publication and press release) Raymond Laflamme has solved both practical and theoretical problems of fundamental importance to quantum information processing, and has been a leader in bringing Canada to international prominence in this field. He elucidated theoretical approaches to quantum error correction, which set the benchmark in this field, and gave the first experimental demonstrations of these techniques. He holds the world record for the largest quantum computer achieved to date. Furthermore, he has devised a radically new approach to quantum computing using linear optics. Laflamme is a founding member of Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and Director of the Institute for Quantum Computing. Fannie Lafontaine is a law professor at Université Laval, holder of a Canada Research Chair and director of the Canadian Partnership for International Justice funded by SSHRC. Her research on international criminal justice and on human rights—in particular related to the role of states in the fight against impunity—is an authority in the field and has influenced tribunals in Canada and abroad and guided public debates.

Fannie Lafontaine est professeure de droit à l’Université Laval, titulaire d’une Chaire de recherche du Canada et directrice du Partenariat canadien sur la justice internationale financé par le CRSH. LAFOREST, Guy – Département de science politique, Université Laval Guy Laforest is an acclaimed scholar nationally and internationally. His original approach combines the methods of political theory and of intellectual history in the study of federalism, nationalism and constitutional politics in Canada. Praised for the uniqueness of their contributions, his studies have analysed the political identity of Canada, the philosophical history of politics in Québec, as well as the understanding of the thoughts of Trudeau and Taylor.

LAFOREST, Guy – Département de science politique, Université Laval Guy Laforest est un chercheur de renommée nationale et internationale. Sa démarche originale combine les approches de la pensée politique et de l’histoire intellectuelle dans l’étude du fédéralisme, du nationalisme et des politiques constitutionnelles au Canada. Ses études reconnues comme très novatrices portent sur l’identité politique du Canada, l’histoire philosophique du politique au Québec, ainsi que sur la pensée de Pierre Elliott Trudeau et de Charles Taylor.

David Laidler, through his extensive research and teaching activities, has become a world authority in the area of macro-econornics and particularly on the role of money and monetary policy. His studies, based on a variety of countries, have given special attention to the U.S., the U.K. and Canada. Throughout this work he has managed to achieve a blend of theoretical reasoning and empirical evidence which is highly distinctive and has been important to the development of the subject internationally. His name ranks prominently in any bibliography of the important work done by economists in this area during the past decade.
