Jeffrey Reitz is a internationally recognized expert on immigration, ethnicity and race relations. His comparisons of immigrant experiences in Canada with those of their counterparts in the United States, Britain, Germany and Australia have provided important new insights into institutional policies and practices whichdetemine the success of immigrant's efforts to find prosperity in their new homes. One of the first scholars worldwide to incorporate quantitive survey and census data into such international comparisons, Reitz' methodologically rigorous reflects an interdisciplinary approach, combining sociology, economics and political science to produce new understandings of the challenges facing immigrants.

Marc Renaud a reçu un B.A. du Collège Saint-Viateur (1966), un B.Sc. (1968) et un M.A. (1970) en sociologie de l'Université de Montréal et un Ph.D. en sociologie de la University of Wisconsin (1976). Monsieur Renaud est professeur titulaire au Département de sociologie de l'Université de Montréal depuis 1975. Il a été président du Conseil québécois de la recherche sociale de 1991 à 1997. Depuis 1991, il est vice-président de fellow de l'Institut canadien de recherches avancées, et a été directeur du Groupe de recherche sur les aspects sociaux de la prévention (GRASP) de 1984 à 1991. Monsieur Renaud a été membre du Forum national sur la santé présidé par le Premier ministre. En 1997, M. Renaud a été nommé président du Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada (CRSH).

Paulo Ribenboim is one of the very few top specialists in Valuation Theory. He is the author of more than thirty papers, three books and a number of advanced monographs. His papers an Valuation Theory and related subjects, e.g. Theory of Fields, Theory of Rings, Ordered Abelian Groups, Algebraic Geometry, are well-known. The main part of his contribution has been to extend in a very beautiful manner classical theories of Hasse and Krull. Brent Richards is an internationally recognized human geneticist and physician who has identified the genes causing several endocrine diseases. He has then used these genes to understand the causal role of modifiable environmental exposures in disease development and provide needed drug targets. His team was the first to identify any novel gene for a common disease using whole-genome sequencing.

Pierre Richard est le fondateur d'une école de palynologie au Québec, qui s'est illustrée, au cours des dernières années, par des développements dans tous les domaines de la discipline, de l'aéropalynologie à la palynologie marine. Si ses jeunes élèves ont acquis rapidement une notoriété scientifique dans la communauté internationale, ils le doivent à la rigueur des approches développées par Pierre Richard. Dans ses propres démarches, le professeur Richard a tiré avantage de sa formation d'ingénieur forestier pour transcrire les données palynologiques en termes de dynamique des systèmes végétaux. On lui doit non seulement des ouvrages de référence, tel son atlas palynologique, mais aussi des contributions remarquables sur l'évolution de la végétation dans l'est du Canada, notamment celle des écosystèmes forestiers, en réponse aux changements climatiques des derniers millénaires. Natalie Rinfret holds a La Capitale research chair in public sector leadership. Her research focuses on leadership development as a strategy for improving government performance, women’s position in non-traditional fields, and the transfer of knowledge. Drawing on her practical experience, she created a research and development program to prepare the next generation of high-potential government officials in Quebec. Her many achievements have been recognized by more than thirty awards.

Natalie Rinfret est titulaire de la Chaire La Capitale en leadership dans le secteur public. Ses recherches portent principalement sur le développement du leadership comme stratégie d’amélioration de la performance de l’État, la place des femmes en milieu non-traditionnel et le transfert des connaissances. Ancrée dans la pratique, elle a créé un programme de recherche et de développement pour la relève à haut potentiel du gouvernement du Québec. Ses nombreuses réalisations ont été soulignées par une trentaine de distinctions.
