M. Serge Bernier est le directeur de la Division Histoire et Patrimoine du ministère de la Défense nationale. Marc André Bernier is one of the foremost experts in eighteenth-century studies. Canada Research Chair in Rhetoric (2004-2014) and the first Canadian to be elected president of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (2011-2015), he obtained in 2014 the Université du Québec's award for excellence in research. His works examine the novel or the writing of history in the light of the rhetorical tradition.

Charles N. Bernstein, MD biography
Dr. Charles Bernstein, a graduate from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine, and the UCLA Division of Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program is Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Bingham Chair in Gastroenterology Research; and Director, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinical and Research Centre at the University of Manitoba. His main research interests are primarily related to IBD; in terms of optimizing management approaches; exploring predictors of clinical outcomes; and disease etiology including related to the gut microbiome. Dr. Bernstein has been a pioneer in Canada in harnessing administrative health data to study chronic immune diseases and in developing a population based database, the University of Manitoba IBD Epidemiology Database, that has both served as a model for the development of other similar databases in other provinces as well as a unique tool to study inflammatory bowel disease. More recently he has been actively involved in exploring the biological and clinical intersection between different chronic immune mediated inflammatory diseases. He has published over 740 peer reviewed articles, 29 book chapters, and is a co-editor of one of the seminal gastrointestinal clinical-pathology textbooks. His H-Index is 128 and has had over 77000 citations. In 2008 Dr. Bernstein was elected into the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. In 2009, he was named the inaugural Bingham Chair in Gastroenterology at the University of Manitoba. In 2012, he was awarded the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Research Excellence Award. Further, in 2012 he was elected into the Royal Society of Canada -Life Sciences Division of the Academy of Science. In 2016 he was named as the recipient of the Dr. John M. Bowman Memorial Winnipeg Rh Institute Foundation Award, recognizing outstanding research accomplishments by a senior University of Manitoba faculty. In 2019 he was awarded the Crohn’s and Colitis Canada Research Leadership Award.

Daniel Bernstein is a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Lifespan Cognition at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. He designed a B.A. major in sleep and dream studies at the University of California, Berkeley before completing his M.A. at Brock University, his Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University, and post-doctoral training at the University of Washington. His current research interests include belief and memory, lifespan cognitive development, and perspective taking.

Dr. Bernstein is nominated for his research contributions in three major areas of science, cell biology, retrovirology and molecular biology. Nicolas Berthelot is a clinical psychologist and a Professor at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, and holds the Canada Research Chair in Developmental Trauma. He is an expert on the intergenerational trajectories of psychological trauma. He has proposed the concept of mentalization of trauma, an innovative approach in developmental and clinical psychology, and has developed the STEP program, a unique intervention aimed at intercepting the intergenerational transmission of abuse.

PRAKASH BHARTIA, Director General, Defence Research Establishment Ottawa, has contributed significantly to antenna and microwave theory and techniques, especially to microstrip antennas, microstrip transmission lines and millimeter-wave engineering. His modelling and design of microstrip patches and arrays, novel techniques for bandwidth improvement and dielectric covered patches are pioneering. His development of accurate CAD models for microstrip, suspended and inverted microstrip and fin lines has simplified design and clarified understanding. His fundamental work in millimeter-wave devices and solutions to problems of microstrip antennas has permitted the development of millimeter-wave band systems. These original contributions are embodied in seven extensively cited textbooks, some of which have been translated into other languages.

After a brief employment at two Government Laboratories (Defence Research Board in Kingston and Atlantic Regional Laboratory in Halifax), Dr. Bidwell joined the staff of the Department of Botany, University of Toronto. Seven years later he moved to Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where a year later he became Chairman of their Department of Biology. He later moved back to Canada and joined Queen's University, Kingston, as Professor of Biology. Following his retirement in 1979, he served as Director of Atlantic Research Associatiates, a consulting group, and Executive Director of the Atlantic Institute of Biotechnology.
An enthusiastic and productive worker, he is able to elicit the same qualities in his associates. He is internationally known for his work on metabolism of nitrogenous substance's effect of light on respiration. His administrative talents, ability to get along with people and broad cultural interests far beyond his profession, all mark him as a leader.

Jeff Biernaskie has made seminal discoveries in somatic stem cell biology and tissue regeneration, particularly in relation to the skin and nervous system. His work identified a dermal stem cell in adult skin and elucidated molecular mechanisms that regulate their behaviour, with potential for future clinical use to improve wound healing. His work clarified the identity of neural stem cells in adult brain and glial cell function following nervous system injury.

Edward Bierstone made very important early contributions to Equivariant Differential Topology, and he is now a world leader in the somewhat different area of Differential Analysis. He was one of the first mathematicians to study transversality and genericity problems for equivariant mappings. He is also responsible for many of the basic results on orbit spaces of compact transformation groups. His more recent work includes the strongest known result on the classical composition problem for analytic mappings.

By reason of achievements and reputation, Dr. Billinton is regarded as being amongst the top international experts in the area of electric power systems reliability. His fundamental and pioneering studies in this area have materially contributed to power systems reliability over the past decade. These studies have been published in some 600 papers and eight books. His first book, published in 1970 is internationally regarded as fundamental to the area. In his capacity as one of the leading experts on the adaption of reliability theory to the assessment of the reliability of electric power systems he has been a frequent principal speaker at seminars and courses on both sides of the Atlantic.

Dr. Lisa Binkley’s research seeks to reclaim Indigenous women’s histories through the study of textiles as material culture. In her research, teaching, and community engagement, she builds relationships between Indigenous and settler peoples through a focus on craft as practice and as object of study. With developing interests in repatriation of physical objects and digital archives, she is already an authority in histories of textiles and the needle-arts.
