Isla Myers-Smith is an international research leader who has made major impacts on Arctic ecosystem science and ecology. She is internationally known for her Arctic greening research, as the global expert on tundra vegetation responses to climate change, including the process of shrubification. Her research is impactful, interdisciplinary and inclusive and she works collaboratively to conduct research internationally and within the Canadian North.

Northern Ontario-based environmental microbiologist Nadia Mykytczuk is an awardwinning expert on bioleaching and mine remediation. Utilizing aspects of microbiology and biotechnology, she studies microbial communities in extreme or disturbed habitats, their adaptability to stressors, and how their abilities can be harnessed to extract value from mine wastes and improve our environment. Nadia Myre is a member of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation and the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Arts Practice at Concordia University. An interdisciplinary artist and educator, Myre considers how Aboriginal presence, worldviews, and contributions to contemporary society can be foregrounded in the public realm. In the hope of reconciliation, she asks what stories and histories need to be recollected and shared to shore our collective memory against the amnestic colonial narrative.

Dr. Mysak has made some notable contributions in the application of mathematical techniques to oceanographic problems. His analysis of ocean waves has given insight into innovative ways of forcasting fish migrations. In physical oceanography he is one of the leading experts on large-scale interannual fluctuations in ocean parameters caused by various meanders and eddies in ocean currents. Adrian Nachman is internationally celebrated for his breakthroughs on fundamental inverse problems arising in medical imaging and in physics. Professor Ira Nadel has written extensively on 19th-century authors such as Pater, Trollope, Dickens, Thackeray, George Eliot, Wilkie Collins, and Queen Victoria. His book, "Biography: Fiction, Fact & Form" has been praised as one of the best modern examinations of biography as a literary genre and for the 'altogether new level' to which it raises discussion of biography. He has also written on North American Jewish writers, on Canadian writers and on the literary modernists. His "Joyce and the Jews" has been exceptionally well received for its historical and cultural breadth, its convincing argument, and its scrupulously objective scholarship. He has just completed a major biography of Leonard Cohen and is beginning a biography of the American poet Louis Zukofsky. Val Napoleon is Professor and Law Foundation Chair of Indigenous Justice and Governance at the University of Victoria. Par ailleurs, il met au point des régimes alimentaires susceptibles de réduire les risques à l’intention des femmes ne souhaitant pas subir de chirurgies radicales. Grâce à sa base de données regroupant plus de 12 000 femmes de plus de 30 pays, il peut soutenir de nombreuses collaborations internationales. LONG CITATION Professor Stanley Nattel is a pioneer in the study of cardiac arrhythmias, using novel approaches based on a detailed understanding of fundamental mechanisms involved in the control of cardiac bioelectricity. His contributions include studies on mechanism of action of antiarrhythmic drugs, basic electrical properties of the human heart, and mechanisms of atrial fibrillation. His work has led to improved understanding and management of cardiovascular disease and the development of a variety of new treatments for heart disease prevention and therapy. Professor Nattel served as Scientific Director of the Montreal Heart Institute Research Center between 1990 and 2004 and is now the Paul David Chair holder in Cardiovascular Electrophysiology at the University of Montreal. SHORT CITATION Professor Stanley Nattel is a renowned cardiologist and a pioneer in the study of cardiac arrhythmias. His research has been on the fundamental mechanisms underlying heart function leading to innovative drug therapy to prevent cardiac arrhythmia. Dr. Nattel was Scientific Director of the Montreal Heart Institute Research Center between 1990 and 2004.
