The COVID-19 pandemic has forced significant and rapid change in the way that research is conducted and how research-funding organizations function. This has, in some cases, accelerated innovation that may have otherwise taken years. In other cases, the negative impacts on organizations and individuals have been significant, including decreases in research activities not related to COVID-19, loss of revenues, and decreases in staff and research productivity overall.
