On November 19, Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccines for children aged 5-11.
What have we learned from previous and current childhood vaccination programmes? What’s new about this vaccine? Are there acceptable reasons to refuse it? And what does the vaccination of kids against COVID-19 enable for schools and for communities?
On December 6 at 12:00 pm EST, the RSC is hosting an hour-long free virtual Town Hall convening experts to discuss key challenges in Canada’s ongoing efforts to end the pandemic.
Kids and COVID: Back to School

OVERVIEW
A month after children in Canada went back to school, Canadians have many questions about their safety, the plans for vaccines, and the cumulative impacts of the pandemic on the mental and social well-being of our children. The Royal Society of Canada and the COVID-19 Immunity Task Force are partnering to host a free, virtual town hall available to all Canadians to share the latest insights and likely next steps.

Dr. Cecilia Benoit holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto. She is currently a Scientist at the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research and Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Victoria, BC.
