Robert Dimand has transformed how we conceptualize the history of economics. He and his collaborators opened a new research field, challenging the belief that women have contributed little to economics until very recently and exploring how economists have conceptualized gender. He also documented the emergence of macroeconomics as a distinct field of economics, emphasizing the centrality of Irving Fisher and John Maynard Keynes, and examined the history of game theory.
