Today, the Science Academies of the G7 issued a joint declaration emphasizing the importance of academic freedom, institutional autonomy, the integrity of research, research security, and the responsible conduct of research in support of the public good.

“Especially in times of uncertainty, it is essential that our Academies commit to strengthening our efforts in defense of the integrity of science and the science advice systems that are critical elements of free and democratic societies,” said Dr. Alain-G. Gagnon, President of the Royal Society of Canada.

Presided by the RSC in 2025, the S7 (Science 7) consists of the Science Academies of the G7: l’Académie des sciences de France, Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina (Germany), Accademia Nazotionale dei Lincei (Italy), the Science Council of Japan, the Royal Society (UK), and the National Academy of Sciences (US).
