The RSC Policy Briefing entitled “Caught in the Currents: Evaluating the Evidence for Common Downstream Police Response Interventions in Calls Involving Persons with Mental Illness” is now freely and publicly available here.
"In this volume, we present an assessment of the current evidence base for some of the existing suite of 'downstream' policing programs and initiatives in Canada: mental health screening tools, situation tables/hub models, de-escalation training and crisis intervention and co-response models," said Chair of the Working Group, Laura Huey.
The RSC has prepared Policy Briefings and other resources to ensure open access to independent, evidence-based science for Canadians.
