CAHS and RSC Announce Shared Commitment to Enhanced Collaboration in the Public Interest

In keeping with a lengthy history of productive collaboration including ongoing work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) and the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) are pleased to announce a shared commitment to deepening bilateral collaboration in order to enhance the provision of independent expertise in the public interest.

Guided by a memorandum of understanding, CAHS and RSC efforts will result in the regular provision of evidence-based findings with recommendations for policymakers, the research community, and all Canadians.

The breadth and depth of expertise in health-related fields within the CAHS and the multidisciplinary character of the RSC are mutually reinforcing. Together, the CAHS and the RSC will explore additional partnerships with academies within Canada and around the world to further increase the engagement of the scientific and scholarly community in addressing the key challenges facing the world.

Consistent with their shared commitment to the provision of independent expertise and advice, the CAHS and the RSC will no longer be members of the Council of Canadian Academies.

For further information, please contact CAHS CEO Serge Buy (sbuy@cash-acss.ca) or the RSC Executive Director Darren Gilmour (dgilmour@rsc-src.ca).
