In partnership with the Library and Archives Canada (LAC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA), the Royal Society of Canada invites you to participate in a G7 Research Summit, entitled “Memory Institutions in the Digital Age”. This summit will be held on December 5, 2018, at LAC, 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa. The event features key speakers who will examine the current state and future prospects for confronting challenges and seizing opportunities for libraries, archives, museums and other memory institutions in the Digital Age. The immediate context is the G7 Academies statement for 2018 on Realising Our Digital Future. By focusing on memory institutions, this summit will discuss major challenges and principles for action that build on the Expert Panel Report entitled The Future Now, published in late 2015 by the RSC, and the complementary Assessment on Leading in the Digital World, published by the CCA in early 2016. The speakers will include the panel chairs for the two reports, as well as key leaders focused on both current digital strategies and potential next steps within and beyond their institutions. This summit precedes the annual meeting of SSHRC Leaders, who are invited to participate, as are others from across government, universities, the private sector and community organizations.
