Christina Laffin holds the Canada Research Chair in Premodern Japanese Literature and Culture. A leading authority on women writers in medieval Japan, she works between the fields of literary study and historiography to excavate works by women and elucidate the conditions enabling them to write. Her contributions include a monograph on medieval Japanese women, a collection on noh theatre, two volumes on gender in Japan, and more than forty articles, translations, and chapters published in English, French, and Japanese.
Christina Laffin est titulaire de la Chaire de recherche canadienne en littérature et culture du Japon pré- moderne. Autorité reconnue dans le domaine des écrivaines du Japon médiéval, elle travaille en transversalité sur la littérature et l’historiographie pour éclairer la littérature féminine et déterminer les conditions de son émergence. Ses contributions comprennent une monographie sur les femmes médiévales japonaises, une collection de livres sur le théâtre Nô, deux volumes sur la théorie du genre au Japon et plus de quarante articles, traductions et chapitres publiés en anglais et en japonais.
