An IEEE Fellow and a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba, Ekram Hossain is an internationally recognized authority in the area of wireless communications and networking. His pioneering contributions to modeling, analysis, and design of cellular wireless and cognitive radio networks (disseminated through more than 350 research articles, books, book chapters, and invention disclosures) have significantly impacted the research and development in this area and enabled advancement of broadband wireless technology.

Lucie Hotte is a full Professor in the Département de français at the University of Ottawa where she holds the University of Ottawa Research Chair in Francophone Cultures and Literatures. Her research focuses on reading theories, minority literature and women's writing. Her work on Franco-Canadian literatures and the institutional issues unique to minority literatures have transformed the way in which they are studied.

In law, Dr. Howes has made significant contributions to Canadian legal history and constitutional studies, and been a staunch advocate for the practice of cross-cultural jurisprudence. In anthropology, Dr. Howes is internationally renowned as a pioneer of the anthropology of the senses and leading theorist of the interdisciplinary field of sensory studies. Michael Howlett is known for his work in public policy studies, especially related to the analysis and improvement of policy design. This research mobilizes insights from public administration, law, political science, public management and political economy to help better understand policy processes and resolve policy problems and issues. He has received many awards and citations for these efforts, including a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1). He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the leading international journal in policy studies, Policy Sciences, and was instrumental in the creation of the International Public Policy Association and the Canadian Public Policy Network, as well as similar organizations dedicated to policy studies in Singapore, the Philippines and India.

He was also a principal scientific advisor to Justice Dennis O'Connor for the Walkerton Inquiry in Ontario. Xi Huang pioneers a new research domain by defining ion channel functions in cancer. While ion channels are drug targets in treating human diseases, their functions are largely unknown in cancer. Dr. Huang’s seminal, systematic, interdisciplinary, and globally recognized research revealed how ion channels regulate brain tumour initiation, progression, metastasis, and response to therapy. He invented a first-in-class ion channel-targeting agent with near-term prospect to benefit brain cancer patients.

Aiyun Huang enjoys a musical life as a soloist, chamber musician, researcher, teacher, and producer. Globally recognized since winning the 2002 First Prize and Audience Prize of the Geneva International Music Competition. Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Aiyun has called Canada home since 1990. She currently directs the Technology and Performance Integration Research (TaPIR) Lab and heads the percussion program at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto.

HUDSON, Anna – Department of Visual Art & Art History, York University Anna Hudson is an art historian / curator specializing in Canadian art, curatorial and Indigenous studies. As a York Research Chair and Principal Investigator of the SSHRC project, Mobilizing Inuit Cultural Heritage, Hudson aims to amplify the practice of cultural values by circumpolar Indigenous artists. Drawing from her doctoral dissertation, Art and Social Progress: the Toronto community of Painters (1933-1950), Hudson continues historical research on humanist aesthetics and cultural activism.

Laura Hug, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair at the University of Waterloo, is an internationally recognized scholar in environmental microbiology. Dr. Hug’s work using multi omics approaches on landfill microbiomes has contributed to real-world solutions for anthropogenic environmental impacts. Dr. Hug’s work was featured in major news outlets including the New York Times and The Atlantic, and she appeared as a science expert for TFO and BBC Radio.
