Robert Brandenberger has made ground-breaking contributions to early universe cosmology. In particular, he contributed prominently to the development of the theory of structure formation in inflationary cosmology. He is largely responsible for the development of the theory of inflationary reheating and is also well known for his pioneering work in the field of superstring cosmology which can explain the earliest moments of the universe.

Le professeur Brandenberger a fait d'importantes contributions à la cosmologie du début de l'univers. En particulier, il a participé à l'élaboration de la théorie de la formation des structures dans la cosmologie inflationniste. En plus, il est en grande partie responsable de l'élaboration de la théorie du réchauffement durant inflation et est bien connu pour son travail de pionnier dans le l'application de la théorie des supercordes à la cosmologie.
