Author of Farewell to the Peasantry? he has provided an influential analysis of political-cultural class formation. His theory and empirical analysis of the neoliberal food regime and its diet informs policy and practice in global food security.
Gerardo Otero, président de l'Association des études latino-américaines (2021-2022), est une autorité en matière de sociologie du changement économique et du développement, de sociologie politique et d'économie politique de l'alimentation et de l'agriculture.
