Long Citation
Andreas Mandelis is a pioneer in the development, shaping and applications of diffusion-wave sciences and associated technologies. His prolific and diverse research includes seminal theoretical contributions to the fundamental physics and mathematics of linear and non-linear diffusion waves, photothermal spectroscopy, depth profilometry, imaging and the inverse problem, culminating in his acclaimed textbook "Diffusion-Wave Fields: Mathematical Methods and Green Functions". He pioneered and developed ultrasensitive thermophysical, optoelectronic, dental, biophotonic and environmental techniques and devices, such as photopyroelectrics, thermal-wave cavities, photothermal and photocarrier radiometry, dental luminescence, solid-state sensors, and time-frequency signal generation principles. They are now used worldwide for materials research, industrial process quality control, dental caries diagnosis and soft tissue imaging.
