Michel Fortin is an internationally renowned researcher who has worked throughout his career as an
archaeologist in the Middle East. Through his research in the field, he has helped to better understand
some aspects of the urbanization process in northern Mesopotamia, on the one hand and, on the other
hand, that of the Levant North. He also helped to develop applications of Geomatics in field archeology: excavations
and surveys.

Michel Fortin est un chercheur de réputation internationale qui a oeuvré au Proche-Orient pendant toute
sa carrière d’archéologue. Par ses recherches sur le terrain, il a contribué à mieux faire comprendre
certains aspects du processus d’urbanisation en Mésopotamie septentrionale et au Levant Nord. Il a aussi
contribué à développer des applications des sciences géomatiques à l’archéologie de terrain, aux chantiers de fouilles
et à la prospection.
