Monica Heller is an internationally renowned sociolinguist whose work has made major theoretical and empirical contributions to the understanding of language and multilingualism in their social, ideological, and political economic contexts. Monica Heller is the author/co-author of 4 books and editor/co-editor of three other major books. Her work is at the cutting edge of theoretical and methodological concerns in sociolinguistics. It makes highly original contributions to our understanding not only of the use of French and minority languages in Canada, but also of the interplay of minority languages, political economy, and globalization.
