Harvey Feit is an internationally admired anthropologist known for his outstanding ecological and applied research among the James Bay Cree. A leading scholar of hunter-gatherer societies, he was a pioneer in the study of ethnoecology, culturally-distinctive systems of wildlife resource management, and political ecology. His action-oriented research led to policy and programs that have become standard in Land Claims negotiations in Canada, the U.S. and Australia.
