Professor Kruttschnitt’s research on female offenders, victims and inmates has contributed to theory and social policy. She has continually challenged taken-forgranted approaches to female offending, including the oft-cited relationship between victimization and offending embedded in the gender-specific pathways model. She has co-authored two National Academy (US) studies of violence against women and a major monograph on how the conditions of confinement have, and are, affecting women’s adaptations to imprisonment.
