Long Citation
Brian Young is one of the most highly respected and influential historians of the commercial, legal and social history of nineteenth century French Canada. A recipient of the Prix Lionel Groulx in 1987 and the Prix Gérard Parizeau in 2003, he is one of the few English speaking Canadians who has crossed the barriers of language, training and perspective to become as fully respected among his francophone colleagues as his visiting and special appointments reflect his significance among anglophone historians. His role as a teacher is illustrated by his co-authorship of one of Quebec's few officially-approved provincial history texts.
