Peter Beyer has over the past decades become the foremost international expert on the relation between religion and globalization. Along the way he has introduced innovative developments in sociological theory of religion in the global context, and produced ground-breaking empirical research on religious and cultural diversity in Canada, the religious expression of Canada’s post-1970 immigrants and second generations, as well as contributed to Canadian and French-Canadian religious history.
Peter Beyer est devenu, au cours des dernières décennies, l’expert international principal dans le domaine des relations entre religion et mondialisation. Il a développé des approches novatrices dans la théorie sociologique de la religion dans un contexte mondial et a réalisé des recherches empiriques et innovantes sur la diversité religieuse et culturelle au Canada, l’expression religieuse des immigrants au Canada depuis 1970, et sur l’histoire religieuse canadienne et franco-canadienne.
