Thomas Lamarre is internationally known for his interdisciplinary contributions to Japanese media history as well as his translations of philosophy, literature, and media theory from French and Japanese. He has published pioneering monographs on calligraphic networks in classical Japan, on cinema and modern empire, and on media technologies and animation production. His publications have won international awards in the domains of history and media studies.
Thomas Lamarre est reconnu internationalement pour ses contributions interdisciplinaires à l’histoire des médias japonais ainsi que ses traductions du français et du japonais des œuvres philosophiques, littéraires, et à la théorie des médias. Il a publié des monographies innovatrices sur les réseaux calligraphiques du Japon classique, sur le cinéma et l’empire moderne et sur les technologies médiatiques et la production des dessins animés. Ses publications ont emporté des prix internationaux aux domaines de l’histoire et des études médiatiques
