Professor Diamandis is internationally recognized for his contributions in the area of prostate cancer diagnosis-prognosis. His pioneering work has established the complete genomic organization of the prostate-specific-antigen proteinase family (KLKs) (chromosome 19q13.4), their cell biology, enzymology, activation of cell signaling and their involvement in cancer and skin disorders. His work underpins the use of KLKs as novel clinically important cancer biomarkers. Currently, he is pioneering a mass spectrometry-proteomic analysis of patient samples for disease biomarker discovery. His work has already improved patient care and his newer discoveries will change the way we diagnose and treat cancer.
