Dr. Hudson has made major contributions to understanding the structure and regulation of the
Human Genome. At MIT he led the team that created the first STS-based physical and gene maps of the human and mouse genomes. At McGill he participated in large-scale projects characterizing variation in and regulation of the human genome. His laboratory played a critical role in defining human haplotypes and signatures of recombination hotspots, developments central to creating the Haplotype Map of the human genome. In recent work he has focused on mapping human diseases such as asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, and susceptibility to leprosy.
