Christl Verduyn has made a significant contribution to Canadian literary scholarship, to the expansion of the university's reach into the broader community, and to the institutional strength of Canadian Studies both in Canada and abroad. Her pioneering work on Canadian women's writing in both English and French, on race and ethnicity in Canadian literature and on the theory and practice of life writing has opened avenues in all these areas which subsequent scholars continue to explore.
