Historian Joshua Fogel is internationally renowned for pioneering the study of
China and Japan together rather than treating them as separate entities. CRC in
East Asian Studies from 2005 to 2019, his influential, prize-winning scholarship on
the entangled histories of the two countries has appeared in English, Japanese and
Chinese. A keen advocate of translation for knowledge sharing, he has translated
30+ volumes into English from Chinese, Japanese or Yiddish.
Joshua Fogel, en sa qualité d’historien, est reconnu sur le plan international pour avoir été le premier à étudier la Chine et le Japon ensemble plutôt que de les traiter comme des entités distinctes. Titulaire d’une Chaire de recherche du Canada en études de l'Asie de l'Est de 2005 à 2019, ses travaux influents et primés sur l'histoire enchevêtrée des deux pays ont été publiés en anglais, en japonais et en chinois. Dr. Cheryl Forchuk is the Beryl and Richard Ivey Research Chair in Aging, Mental Health, Rehabilitation and Recovery, Parkwood Research Institute. She is a Distinguished University Professor at the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing (Western University) with a cross appointment to the Department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Dr. Forchuk uses participatory approaches to develop and test solutions including transitional discharge, technology in mental health care, poverty, housing, and homelessness.

Professor Forth’s research on indigenous hominoid images first published in 1998, anticipated palaeoanthropological research leading to the discovery of Homo floresiensis in 2003.

Membre de plusieurs commissions de recherches, membre actif et président de plusieurs sociétés scientifiques, organisateur de la cinquième conférence nord-américaine sur les mycorhizes (1981, à Québec), sa réputation

Michel Fortin, Département de mathématiques et de statistique, Université Laval, jouit d'une réputation internationale qui le donne pour l'un des plus éminents spécialistes de l'analyse numérique de sa génération et l'un des plus grands mathématiciens appliqués que le Québec ait produits. Il est le chef de file d'une vaste communauté québécoise de l'analyse numérique. Ses travaux se démarquent par cette faculté qu'il possède de jeter des ponts entre la théorie et la pratique ainsi qu'entre scientifiques de disciplines différentes. Fortin a apporté une contribution prégnante à la théorie des éléments finis mixtes et hybrides ainsi qu'au développement de méthodes lagrangiennes augmentées. Ce travail est résumé dans deux textes influents dont il fut le cosignataire, « Mixed and Hybrid Finite Element Methods » et « Augmented Lagrangian Methods » .

now essential for evaluation of the heart, embryos and cancer models.
Le Dr Stuart Foster a été le pionnier du développement de la micro-échographie. Il a développé une haute fréquence
instrumentation par ultrasons et fondé Visualsonics - le premier fournisseur mondial de micro-ultrasons. Le Dr Foster a appliqué la micro-US pour résoudre des problèmes cliniques en ophtalmologie.

Foster, John Wilson - Literature - University of British-Columbia John Wilson Foster has established an international reputation as a pioneer in the study of the modern literature and culture of his native Northern Ireland through a series of ground-breaking books, articles, and editions. Much of his work was done in the context of the Northern Ireland Troubles (1969-1998), which were attracting international attention as a compelling example of the challenges posed in the resolution of ethnic conflicts with complex historical and religious roots. Throughout his long academic career in Canada, he has worked tirelessly and with admirable success to promote Irish studies and to share his expertise. As a result he has done much to open a significant Canadian engagement with a body of literature and cultural criticism which has become an important field of study internationally and on which he is a leading authority.

William Foulkes is an international leader in cancer genetics. He demonstrated the relationship between the breast cancer gene BRCA1 and a principal breast cancer subtype and identified risk-associated genes for goitre, and for tumours of the breast, ovary and brain, among others. He established the role of DICER1 in many childhood cancers and recognized the link between a pediatric brain tumour and a rare ovarian cancer, which has therapeutic implications.
William Foulkes est un chef de file international en génétique du cancer. Il a démontré la relation entre le gène de prédisposition au cancer du sein BRCA1 et un sous-type principal de cancer du sein. Il a aussi identifié des gènes associés, en autres, au risque de goitre et de tumeurs du sein, des ovaires et du cerveau. Eduardo L. Franco, DrPH, PhD (Hon), FRSC, FCAHS, OC is James McGill Professor and Chairman, Department of Oncology, and Director, Division of Cancer Epidemiology, McGill University, Montreal. Since 1985, he has conducted epidemiologic research on the causes of cancer and on the means to prevent it or to improve patient survival, topics on which he has published 470+ articles, 60+ chapters, and two books. He is mostly known for his contributions to our understanding of human papillomavirus infection as the cause of cervical cancer and using this knowledge to prevent this cancer via vaccination and improved screening strategies. He received the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance’s Distinguished Service to Cancer Research Award, Lifetime Achievement Awards from the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and from the International Papillomavirus Society, the Women in US Government’s Leadership Award, the Canadian Cancer Society’s Warwick Prize, the Geoffrey Howe Outstanding Contribution Award from the Canadian Society for Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of British Columbia’s Chew Wei Memorial Prize in Cancer Research, and the McLaughlin-Gallie Award from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. He mentored 115 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, and 30 undergraduate trainees. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Preventive Medicine and has served in the editorial boards of several top-tier journals in oncology and epidemiology. He is Officer of the Order of Canada and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
