Catherine Potvin is a world leader in global change biology. She was among the first to show how changing carbon dioxide levels alter plant biodiversity, implemented the first long-term tropical experiment relating tree biodiversity to ecosystem function. She also developed and popularized several advanced statistical techniques. Currently, she is a driving force at local, national, and international levels shaping research, policy, and implementation of climate change mitigation action.
