A guiding voice in contemporary ethnomusicology in Canada, Dr. Beverley Diamond inaugurated her career with ground-breaking ethnographies on Indigenous music. She is a pioneering feminist musicologist, particularly noted for developing cross-cultural perspectives on gendered musical practices. She has extended the range and lines of inquiry in contemporary studies of Canadian music. Recently, she has explored ways that new technologies mediate traditional musical practices in a globalized world. With an extensive record of influential publications, Dr. Diamond is the country's only senior-tier CRC in a music discipline and has been an inspiring mentor to more than 70 MA and Ph.D. students.
