John Myles is a Canada Research Chair in Sociology at the University of Toronto and Visiting Research Scholar at Statistics Canada. He has received major awards in Canada and the U.S. for his contributions to the study of social and economic inequality. His major works include comparative studies of the formation of welfare states and of class relations in the affluent democracies. He has also made numerous contributions to the study of social policy, poverty and income inequality in Canada.
