A.J. Ray is a historian and historical geographer whose work reflects his broad interests in aboriginal-white relations, the fur-trade, and the adaptive capacities of aboriginal peoples. He has also contributed importantly to the understanding of disease and population decline, diet, and the impact of agriculture and industrialization on the aboriginal-white relationship.
