Prof. Bai is an elected Fellow or Foreign Member of over twenty well-known academies including the Royal Society, US National Academy of Sciences.

Gauvin Bailey has developed the idea of global Renaissance and Baroque Art with foundational work on the hybrid cultures of colonial Latin America and Asia. His research compares geographic regions in new ways and uses multidisciplinary methodologies to contextualize art internationally. In 2010-2011 Bailey was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.

Jane Bailey engages with law and technology from an innovative equality-seeking perspective. Her research examines the impacts of online hate propagation, child pornography, identity-based cyberharassment and the non-consensual distribution of intimate images on the privacy and expressive rights of equality-seeking groups. She seeks to create equality-enhancing environments in online spaces, particularly for young women and vulnerable youth.

Terence Bailey's research in musicology has won international recognition for his discovery of principles governing the composition and development of the ecclesiastical chant of Western music; by this work, he has increased knowledge of the history of music theory. Two recent books, "The Ambrosian Alleluias" and the "Milanese Cantus", have demonstrated these repertories to be consistent and logical and developed criteria for segregation of later accretions. He has published two important books concerned with the mutual influence of liturgy, ceremonial, and music.

Kim Baines is an internationally recognized scholar in the fundamental chemistry of low valent, highly reactive main group compounds. She pioneered the synthesis and chemistry of germasilenes and novel low-valent germanium, tin and gallium cations, opening new areas of scientific inquiry. Capitalizing on the research, she developed the synthesis of new inorganic polymers and main group catalysts and furthered the understanding of semiconductor surface chemistry.

Michael Baird is internationally renowned for his creative and innovative contributions to fundamental and applied aspects of organometallic chemistry. He synthesized the first known examples of transition metal carbon disulphide and thiocarbonyl complexes and determined mechanisms for several important organometallic reactions which are now text book examples. Dr. Baird is the world's leading expert on the chemistry of 17-electron organometallic radicals. He has also applied his fundamental knowledge to the application of organometallic compounds in important catalytic processes such as single-site metallocene catalysis of olefin polymerisation and the development of new titanium based anti-cancer drugs.

In over a dozen books and 400 scholarly papers, Barry Baldwin has earned an international reputation for his acute studies of the classical world and late antiquity, in all their elements. Although in recent years his prodigious efforts have been directed principally towards late Roman and early Byzantine studies, his career has produced influential articles on social and historical topics from the Greece of Herodotus to the England of Samuel Johnson. Invited lectures at (among others) Edinburgh's Institute for Advanced Research, Dumbarton Oaks, the University of South Africa, and the North American Patristics Society are a fair reflection of his standing as one of the world's preeminent students of antiquity and its later influence.
Asen Balikci

Le Dr. Balikci est un chercheur senior de réputation internationale, reconnu pour l'originalité et le caractère exhaustif de ses nombreuses études d'observation sur l'écologie culturelle des régions arides (arctique canadien, Ethiopie orientale et Afghanistan septentrional). Il est également à l'origine d'une tradition ethnocinématographique canadienne d'excellente qualité : ses films ethnographiques sur les Esquimaux Netsilik (neuf court métrages) et celui sur les Lakenkhel en Afghanistan, tous deux distribués par l'ONF ont été fort remarqués.
Il est l'auteur de quatre monographies et d'une cinquantaine d'articles parus dans plusieurs revues ethnologiques de grande réputation et ouvrages collectifs spécialisés. Il a reçu de nombreuses subventions de recherche et bourses d'études (fellowships) qui l'ont amené à travailler dans le Grand nord canadien, en Yougoslavie, au Sénégal, au Sri Lanka, en Afghanistan et en Inde. Par ses travaux comparatifs en écologie culturelle et la qualité de ses documentations ethnographiques, il a contribué au renouvellement théorique en anthropologie culturelle. Son travail de pionnier en ethnocinématographie l'a fait connaître à travers le monde et lui a valu de nombreux prix.

Myrle Ballard is an Anishinaabe Scientist from Lake St. Martin First Nation and a Canada Research Chair in Weaving Indigenous Science and Sustainability Science and Associate Professor at the University of Calgary. She was the founder and first Director of the Indigenous Science Division of Environment and Climate Change Canada. Dr. Ballard coined Three-Eyed Seeing, an important tool in management and decision making. Dr. Ballard’s research uses Indigenous language as a tool to understand local ecosystems and monitor them through environmental changes, ensuring that Indigenous Science informs solutions to climate change.
Myrle Ballard est une scientifique anishinaabe de la Première Nation de Lake St. Martin, professeure agrégée à la University of Calgary et titulaire de la Chaire de recherche du Canada sur l’articulation des savoirs autochtones et des sciences de la durabilité. Elle a été la fondatrice et la première directrice de la Division des sciences autochtones à Environnement et Changement climatique Canada. G. Michael Bancroft has received international recognition for pioneer work on the applications of Mossbauer and Photoelectron Spectroscopy and synchrotron radiation to problems of inorganic chemistry and mineralogy. His studies of Mossbauer spectroscopy led to important advances in the understanding of silicate minerals, and to the development of a theoretical model explaining and predicting the Mossbauer quadrupole splitting. In photoelectron spectroscopy, his contributions have included the discovery of the ligand field splitting and the derivation of a theory of the ligand field splitting parameter. His use of synchrotron radiation as a source for high-energy photoelectron studies (in pure spectroscopy, and for solved applied mineralogy and tribology problems) typifies his imaginative and resourceful approach to experimental problems.
