Sean Carleton is an Associate Professor of History and Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba. As Canada’s leading expert on residential schooldenialism, Dr. Carleton’s interdisciplinary research examines Indigenous-settler relations and the Indian Residential School system in Canada. His work has been highly impactful both within and beyond academia, challenging audiences to understand and accept the truth about Canada’s colonial past as a necessary part of reconciliation.

A Fellow of the RSC, James P. Carley is an expert on the history of the book, focusing on the contents of English libraries in the late medieval and early modern periods. His groundbreaking edition and analysis of the libraries of King Henry VIII appeared in 2000 and 2004. The first of his two-volume edition, translation and study of the De uiris illustribus by the Tudor humanist John Leland was published in 2010. Growing out of his Sandars Lectures in Bibliography at the University of Cambridge in 2011 will be a three-volume account of the early history of Lambeth Palace Library.

Simon Caron-Huot is a theoretical physicist internationally renowned for his contributions to particle physics. Tucker Carrington is a chemical physicist who develops and applies new methods for computing vibrational and ro-vibrational spectra, scattering cross sections and rate constants. The common theme of his research is understanding the motion of atoms. Many of the computational methods he has developed use iterative linear algebra techniques and exploit the structure of basis sets to make it possible to do calculations without storing or computing a Hamiltonian matrix.

A.J. Carty has accomplished a large body of work on coordination compounds of the group III elements and he has made seminal contributions to the complexation of toxic mercurials at biological sites. He has pioneered the use of phosphinoalkynes as versatile ligands and is an internationally recognized authority on phosphide and acetylide polynuclear chemistry. Articles in these fields were among the 100 most cited papers in pure chemistry in 1981-84. Recently he has been a principal contributor to our understanding of structure-reactivity patterns in metal cluster chemistry. In addition he has played a major role in Canadian chemistry as chairman and group chairman of NSERC peer review committees.

Dr. Cass is internationally recognized for her research on membrane transport of nucleosides and nucleoside drugs. Her important early studies on nucleoside transport in human erythrocytes laid the foundation for the field and her subsequent studies of nucleoside transport deficiencies established that functional membrane transporters are essential for manifestation of cytotoxicity of many nucleoside drugs.
