MENN, Stephen - Department of Philosophy, McGill University Stephen Menn is known for his profound understanding of all the principal sub-fields in Ancient Philosophy, but most particularly for his work on and transformative solution to the problem of the aim of Aristotelian metaphysics. He is also renowned for his significant contributions to the history and philosophy of mathematics which focus on Plato, Eudoxos, Euclid and Archytas and his work on Feuerbach's Theorem.

Bijoy Menon is a neurologist and a Professor in the Departments of Neurosciences, Radiology and Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. He leads an internationally recognized research program that is pushing the boundaries of modern stroke care by using advanced image processing techniques, statistical and clinical trial methodologies and Artificial Intelligence based algorithms to develop cutting edge imaging tools and better treatment for people suffering from acute stroke.

MES-MASSON, Anne-Marie - Département de Médecine, Université de Montréal Anne-Marie Mes-Masson has pioneered model systems to study ovarian cancer based on human biological material and has contributed to biobanking norms including ethics. Her leadership has provided strategic direction and insured the success of several large oncology research programs. Anne-Marie Mes-Masson’s research has advanced our understanding of ovarian cancer biology that is currently being translated into new clinical tools to diagnose, manage and treat this deadly disease.

A forest engineer and a specialist in forest ecology and the development of natural and urban forests, Christian Messier studies how trees and their ecosystems work in order to develop approaches that are increasingly resilient in the face of overall change. His work has made it possible to improve the management of forests in natural and urban environments and begin changing the paradigm around developing our forests based on complex adaptive systems.

Dr. Mettrick is widely known for his taxonomic, faunistic, physiological and biochemical studies on tapeworms, resulting in about 100 publications. Since 1967, his experimental work at the University of Toronto has provided insights into not only the transport of nutrients into these parasites, but also the functioning of epithelia in general. He has demonstrated why intestinal parasites, which live in the presence of abundant oxygen, find it necessary to respire anaerobically, and has documented important changes in the host intestine as a consequence of parasitism.
