In June 2025, in response to the ongoing global threat posed by the HPAI H5N1 panzootic to animal and human health, the RSC, in collaboration with the Forum on Microbial Threats of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, convened an expert meeting in St. John’s alongside the 11th International Symposium on Avian Influenza (ISAI).
At the meeting, leading scientific experts and representatives from research organizations, the public sector, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholder groups identified priority HPAI H5Nx research areas and explored opportunities for international collaboration to strengthen readiness and response.
