Long Citation (for publication and press release)
Peter Sabor's ground-breaking work on major authors such as Samuel Richardson, Frances Burney, and Jane Austen has earned him the Canada Research Chair in Eighteenth-Century Studies at McGill University. As a scholar of impressive breadth, and outstanding editor of work previously inaccessible, he has opened up his field to new generations. As Director of the Burney Centre he works with a large team of scholars to produce a set of standard volumes that will enormously enlarge our knowledge of the literature and history of his period. He is co-general editor of a 25-volume edition of Richardson's Works and Correspondence and general editor of a 6-volume edition of Burney's Court Journals, both in progress.
Short Citation (to be read at the Induction Ceremony)
