DEI, George Jerry Sefa, Social Justice Education, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto
George Dei is an international renowned educator, researcher and writer considered by many as one of Canada’s foremost scholars on race and anti-racism studies. His work in the sociology of race and ethnicity in education, the challenges of inclusive schooling and minority education in pluralistic contexts, and Indigenous knowledge systems have contributed to shaping critical debates on equity and decolonial education in Canada and beyond. A key contribution to education is his scholarly investigation of how educators in multiple contexts engage links of identity, knowledge production and schooling. Dei has been a major proponent and a pioneering voice in the establishment of African-centred schools in Canada.
