Professor emeritus since May 2010, Jean-Marie Toulouse has been the Director of HEC Montréal from 1995 to September 2006.
Prior to his nomination as Director, Jean-Marie Toulouse’s teaching and research focussed on the following areas: Entrepreneurship, Business Strategy, Organizational Dynamics, Strategic Decisions.
After completing doctoral studies in Social Psychology at the University of Montreal, Jean-Marie Toulouse was nominated Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of California in Los Angeles. Before joining the University of Ottawa faculty (1970-1973), he worked as a consultant. He joined HEC Montréal in 1973 to teach, lead research projects and occupy various administrative functions including Director of the Research Department, Director of the Ph.D. Program, Director of the Department of Management before assuming the Chaire d’entrepreneurship MacLean Hunter.
Jean-Marie Toulouse is the author of numerou s books and he has produced more than 50 articles which have appeared in leading journals.
Jean-Marie Toulouse sits on many Boards. He is a member of the Royal Society of Canada (1997) and Officer of the Ordre National du Québec (2001). He also received an honorary doctorate from the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 in 2005 and a Lien d’Or from the Université EM Lyon in 2006.
