Canada is blessed with abundant fresh water: the Great Lakes alone contain 20 percent of the world’s fresh water supply. If you ask most Canadians whether they value water, the answer will be a resounding “yes!” But if we take a closer look at some of the things that have been done with this resource, it becomes clear that our actions don’t necessarily reflect our words. Why not? Who is responsible? And most importantly, what can we do to ensure that our children and grandchildren don’t suffer as a result of the choices we make today.
